As the Christian Church began to form, a convert named Paul traveled throughout the Mediterranean area telling people about Jesus. Some places were receptive, others ran him out of town. One town responded in a way which is a great example for all of us - the town of Berea (rhymes with Maria). The people of Berea were open-mined, welcomed Paul's message, explored the Scriptures for themselves, decided what they believed, and put belief into action. The account can be found in Acts 17.
If you are willing to follow the model of Berea, great things can happen.
Hearing a message is good but it is in small groups where we can explore thoughtfully, believe sincerely, and move forward in action - spiritual growth!
Berea Groups gather regularly to: explore the Bible, share life, and pray together. As friendships grow, together they listen for and respond to what God is saying.
